Alright, time to stir some shit up here since I know I'm in the minority.

SYL sucks.

I've seen them live a couple times and I understand the genius musicians involved, but man....it's not good. It's really hard to describe why properly, but the best way I can say it in extreme laymans terms is that it's too nuts all the damn time, and way too dense sounding productionwise. Not a fan.

on the other hand, CITY is one of the top ten metal records my sleep deprived brain can think of right now. fucking brilliant! A colossal cacophony of chaos and catatstrophe! (god i rule at alliteration all of a sudden)

and once again i agree w/ lance, it is too nuts and too dense. That was what i found great about CITY in the first place. All these insane harmonies and melodies buried w/in a wall of utter noise!

Brian & Glen - Calling Alien crap is taking it a bit to far. Crap is a term reserverd for the like of the aforementioned bands.

Yes, both SYL and Alien failed to live up to lofty expectations set by the god-like City album. SYL is still a good album. Alien has it moments there are 3-4 solid tracks the rest is just well... unremarkable.
