Big Unit- 12-16-2004
Well then, thank god I'm not an A's fan! Like Oakland Raiders, but no A's. If I had to pick a favorite team, it would be the Dodgers, or probably the Phillies, only cause I had a cousin that played for them.

Big Unit- 12-16-2004
oh, and I totally agree with the Basketball shutout idea. FUCK THEM TOO! Goddamn overpaid crybabies.

If there was ever a football shutout, I think I'd have an aneurism.

Malmstorm!- 12-16-2004
Phillies? LOL! Who was your cousin? Mitch Williams?

Yeah, I hear that. I'd be crushed if there was no NFL. (not like it would matter for the Raiders. They're playing like shit AGAIN this year.)

Not gonna be in MN anymore?! where are you going?

San Diego is the most likely destination. Really, i'm just trying to find a good school on the west coast.

The Aaaahj- 12-16-2004
Heheehe Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams.

BTW Fuck the Raiders and Fuck that 2-timing piece of shit Al Davis twice as much.

The fucking Dodgers!!!! Ya know Big U the more you post the less I like you. wink.gif

On a slighlty related note, I never understood people who rooted for a Team that isn't even in the same time zone as them, unless of course your from that area (ala Ryan & I).

Malmstorm!- 12-16-2004
Most notably there seem to be a lot of Red Sox fans around the world. Same with the Yankees. I find it hard to believe that any more than 40% are actually tied to the New England/New York area in some way, shape or form. Bandwagon, i guess.

The Aaaahj- 12-16-2004
Yeah, I noticed that too. The Red Sox "nation" grew quite a bit this past post season. However, I believe the numbers will dwilndle rappidly now that they've won the WS, by the time they have they're next losing season it'll be back to just people from Boston.

I actually work with a Yankees fan who's from Texas, go figure. Then again before this year, when was the last time Texas had a decent baseball team?

So, sunny Socal bound eh? At least it's not LA. LA's a fun place to visit, but I wouldn't want to spend more than week there. Be prepared for climate shock. It doesn't rain there for 6-8mos at a time.

Malmstorm!- 12-16-2004
Actually, not as long ago as it seems. The Rangers were pretty darned good in the late 90s and the Astros have been pretty competitive for a while now.

SoCal it is. We visited Riverside and Norco last winter and although those towns are nothing to write home about, i was impressed with the rest of the area. Laguna Beach was beautiful, Mission Viejo was kinda neat. We'll head out there again this coming summer to finalize where we are actually gonna move. Once we move there we'll probably hang out in Norco for a few months, save some more money and choose between San Diego, Santa Cruz or San Jose. We're trying to find schools that will accomodate a good Masters program in English (for Bri) and has a good music program. Should be interesting, nonetheless. Plus, we'll be able to head out to San Diego and San Fran for some ballgames!

I'm a Red Sox fan since I can remember and I've never lived on the east coast.

HOWEVER, one entire side of my family is from there and a lot of them still live there. My cousins are all Twins fans even though 2 of them never lived here. It's sort of a family alliance.

The Aaaahj- 12-16-2004
Yeah I guess I do remember those years, but Johnny's lived up here since before those times, and claims to have been a Yankees fan since his days in Texass.

I guess I can understand the family connection to a team, but some times these things seem so random. Take Jay for example his favorite baseball team is Atlanta, he's never been there and has no connection to there. Same with his favorite Football team Indianapolis. Although that might have something to do with him being a redneck.

Santa Cruz would put you between LA & SF, not sure how the school is, but the area is really nice. You should try and make it to Yosemite some time, that area is absolutely beautiful, and more than rivals the best parts of the Rockies.

SBC Park is a really nice stadium, unfortunately I didn't get to see a game there, but the bleecher area is open on non day games to wonder around. Plus, you have to go down the slides in the Giant coke bottle. The new SD stadium looks nice, but I still wish I would have been able to see a game at Jack Murphy Stadium. Since your going to be there you might as well hit Chavez Ravine & Angels Stadium.

Does anyone else find it odd that sports related thread or sports hijacked threads are ONLY threads on this board to make it 100 replies?

Maybe, in all actuallity this IS a sports board wink.gif. Just kiddin' Jon & Brian.

Malmstorm!- 12-16-2004
Hmmm....rumor has it that the Braves did in fact acquire Hudson. If that is the case....WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Malmstorm!- 12-16-2004
Yup, Charles Thomas, Juan Cruz and Dan Meyer to Oakland. Now if only Tim can get a contract extension....

The Aaaahj- 12-16-2004
Yep, that's what MLB.Com says. It would be real smart to sign him to an extension ASAP.

So, with the Expos (I won't call them anything else till opening day) situation up in the air I see the Twins are possible contraction talk again. I'M guessing that this will get a stadium deal pushed through next session for them.

Either, way I think it's time to get a petition DEMANDING THE IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION OF CZAR SELIG!!!!

The Aaaahj- 12-16-2004
Kick Ass Beltre to Seattle!!! This really hurts LA, something I always take pleasure in.

There seems to be a shift in power this off season with teams such as Seattle & the Mets shelling out huge amounts of cash on players, and other teams making "interesting" trades such as the Bitch Sox. This is shapping up to be a really interesting season and spring training is still a ways away.
