god, sometimes i forget how much i love Page 2.
A-Rod - Guilt by association. fucking phenomenal

I believe Brady Anderson had to have been the easiest to call. What, his top HR total any other year was barely 20? And comes out of "nowhere" to hit 50? Right.

I still have a hard time with the steriod scandal. 'Roids doesn't give you better pitch selection, but that is about where i draw the line. It is just sad to see that a) children are crying because their "hero" Giambi is cheating and b ) that children are even using sports figures as a hero in the first place. Now, i adored Dale Murphy as a kid, but not once was he a hero in my eyes. What a crazy world we live in...

The Aaaahj- 12-08-2004
Wow, it's a sad sick world when Jason Giambi is someone's hero.
I do agree that sport figures are not role models, especially modern ones. Just cause you can throw/hit/catch/dunk a ball well doesn't mean your a good person.

Malmstorm!- 12-08-2004
Right on the nose, AJ. Actually, if i were to pick a sports player, my role model would be Leon. LOL!

The Aaaahj- 12-08-2004
I'd go with Wilt Chamberlin cause he slept with 10,000 women ; ).

P.S. To the Naughty Sailor. Love you honey.

Hey, we all have to have unattainable dreams.

Congrats AJ, your Dustin Hermanson days are officially over. 2 year deal with the White Sox.

Jaret Wright signs 3 year/21 million dollar deal with the Yanks. OVERPAID. Fine, better the Yanks than the Braves. (though the Braves already have Hampton)

Good to see Radke stay with the Twinks. And for those who were on the Blanco bandwagon, he'll be hooked up with Maddux again in Chicago. Where does Bako go? Ah, who cares. And a little known fact about Hank White: his last contract with the Twins had an "out" clause. Should he reach 350 or more at bats (and he did) he can automatically become a free agent. Point blank, he didn't want to be a Twin. Let him rot in Chicago with Hawkins.

The Aaaahj- 12-08-2004
Yes, I am so happy, maybe he can blow the Bitch Sox chances of going to the playoffs next year. Now, all the Giants need is a power hitter to bat behind Bonds and there set. Well, a better pen would be nice, but this is SF, they don't believe in stocking up in pitching.

The Wright deal isn't done yet, although it does appear to be an inevitability. Of course he's overpaid, is there a starting player on the Yankess who isn't overpaid?

I think signing Radke was a must for the Twins, otherwise you have to take a shot at one of free agent pitchers out there. Thanks to Chris Benson every pitcher in the market is going to be saying well if he can get $23 million as a slightly above average pitcher then I should get at least that if not more. Now all the Twins need to do is resign Koskie (although rumors have him going north of the border, eh). I don't see any other major off season moves by the Twins 'cept J.J. might be on the trading block. Blanco's agent screwed him in an attempt to get comepensation for last year. Let him go be Maddux's bitch this year, with Mauer back they won't need him.

Oh yeah, the ever-so-popular "announcement later this week" tag. Oh well, you're wright. :-P

Still, i doubt Jaret performs the way he did last year. Leo Mazzone spotted a flaw in his delivery as soon as he came from San Diego. Without Leo around, pitchers seem to lick dog butt. Unless you are Jason Schmidt or Odalis Perez, who just never had a good bond with Leo in the first place. It isn't anyones fault and good for them for being able to prove they are worthy of being aces. Jason Marquis was another one who didn't click with Leo, but after that you tend to look at Chris Hammond, Denny Neagle and Jaret Wright as prime examples of tutelage forever abandoned. Jaret will be eaten up by NY fans, in the grand style of Jeff Weaver. I wish him luck though. I really enjoyed watching him pitch with that chaw in his mouth.

The guy i would see about is Aubrey Huff, 1B, 3B and outfielder for the D-Rays. He is apparently on the market, as TB is trying to trim some payroll. He would put up better numbers than Koskie at roughly the same cost. Why they want to move him, especially with Rocco missing a few months, is strange. He is a very versatile player and could be valuable in terms of getting the kids on the farm some action. Hell, with JD Drew gone, i wish the Braves would pick him up.

Rumor is that Jose Cruz Jr. is on the list for San Fran. Wasn't he just there a few years ago? Won a gold glove, despite a boneheaded play towards the end of the season (2003?), if i am not mistaken.

NaughtySailor- 12-09-2004
The Twins signed B-Rad!!!!!!!!!

I don't really care if they sign Koskos or not, it's not a priority, I predict if they sign him he'll be on the DL most of the season.

Malmstorm!- 12-09-2004
I could see Koskie sign with a club that has an already established third baseman. That way he can DH more and perhaps raise his value while even possibly avoiding injury. Toronto is that suiter, with Eric Hinske already manning the helm at 3B.

The Aaaahj- 12-09-2004
If Koskie does leave, they do need to pick up a 3rd baseman. Neither Tiffee or Cuddyer are ready to be full time 3rd basem. Cuddyer may never be ready for the hot box.

NaughtySailor- 12-10-2004
Toronto will not try for Corey because the Twins offered him arbitration.

That's the most absurd thing i've ever heard. When a club offers a player arbitration it rarely has an affect on another team trying to sign him. Only one of two scenarios can happen:

1) Koskie takes the arbitration and gets a 1 year deal. Or the Twins can negotiate a deal before the arbitration hearing. But the catch is: they have to do it before another club snatches him up.
2) Koskie takes any deal he wants from any other club. Why wouldn't he want to go to Toronto? He's already been in contact with them and has been quoted as being interested in playing for a Canadian team. (the only canadian team)

Toronto has some pretty good prospects coming up, so they'd likely be willing to let a draft pick go. Arizona offered Sexson arbitration, but Toronto is looking at either him or Koskie. And they have money off the books from Delgado. $25 million, if i am not mistaken. So, they WILL be players in the free agent market, it just remains to be seen who that guy will be. Matt Clement is another name that is REAL close to signing with the Jays.

AJ- sorry to hear about Finley. I was really hoping to see him in the SF outfield. It would have been an OLD outfield, but a highly productive one. Could you imagine the season he'd have batting before or after Bonds?

That Anaheim outfield looks good now. Vlad, Anderson and Finley. Now that is amazing. That is IF they all stay healthy. And that is a big if with Vlad and Anderson. Finley seems to be rock solid, but i guess you never know with 38-39 year old outfielders.

The Aaaahj- 12-11-2004
$16 mill is a bit much for Korey and if the Blue Jays are offering it I say he said take it and laugh his way to the bank.

Yeah, I figured Finley might have been out our grasp. Sabean's still going after a true center fielder, I'm sure he'll pull something out. Scott Podsenik seem to be the leading option right now. I don't really know much about him though. I doubt they'll seriously go after Jose Cruz Jr. his last stint in a SF uniform was less than impressive.

Anaheim's outfield is scary they're gearing up for another shot at the WS. The still need a closer though.
