Malmstorm!- 02-09-2005
My point was clearly missed.

No, i realize why Sheff would be booed NOW, but why when he was a Brave? Probably just because he was a Brave, eh?

Twins fans are funny though. That interleague series between the Braves and Twins was comedic. The first night was a spectacular game, but as per usual, i caught a RASH of shit after the game from Twins fans. No problem, i can take it. The next 2 nights were what made the series worth while. After LOSING the next two games, all Twins fans could taunt me with were "1991! 1991!!", completely losing the fact that THEIR TEAM LOST those two nights. But hey, if you have to go back to '91 to feel good about your team, so be it.

As the Twins have done much since then. You can bring up the fact that the Braves won only 1 world series (losing twice to teams that the Twins have never been able to pass, by the way), but i still am thankful that the Braves have won 13 straight titles and the CHANCE to be in the postseason each year.

Meanwhile, the Twins have appeared in the postseason 3 times in the last 3 years and have done exactly the same thing the Braves have done: lose.

Sailor, this isn't directed at you, so don't take offense. I know you are a good Twins fan and are diehard. I'm just venting at Twins fans that have no clue for the game, and there are A LOT of them. (not that any of them are reading this. LOL!)

The funny thing is that the Marlins have won 2 world series. Do i think they are a better overall team than the Twins or Braves? Not a chance. All i'm saying is that the number of titles doesn't dictate your success year-in-year-out. Each year brings different turds. I can't count on my Braves to win anything, especially since they are counted out every year. But, i will always root for them. Always have since i can remember.

Crap, what was my point? I forgot...

Yeah dude, I know exactly what you mean. I'm a life long Giants fan, which means I'm always ready to be dissapointed. 2002 is a prime example, the Giants just decided in the 6th innning (i think) or games 6 of the WS that they realy didn't want to win the series despite being up 3-2 and being ahead in game 6. I mean have you seen that trophy who has room for something that big?

Malmstorm!- 02-10-2005
Yep, i hear ya. Braves didn't show up for the 99 World Series. The consoling factor in that one is neither did the Cardinals in this years World Series.

But, fuck, they had a chance in 96. They had the Yanks right where they wanted them and let Leyritz and Wohlers take care of the rest. Fucking bums.

NaughtySailor- 02-10-2005
Yeah I guess they were booing Sheffield for being a Brave. Gotta boo somebody.

I get a lot of this title business from North Dakota and Gopher hockey fans, it's all about how many NCAA titles they've won, no matter when. As if your title in 1976 makes you that much better of a team in 2005.

Malmstorm!- 02-10-2005
Well at least some of us get it. I've been trying to say that for years...

NaughtySailor- 02-18-2005
So the NHL is being a tease... first they cancel themselves, then they're back on for a shortened season?

Fans should just say fuck you and not go to the games. They didn't care about the fans, why should we give a shit about them. I'd rather watch the Bulldogs lose.

The Aaaahj- 02-19-2005
I won't believe that there is going to be a season this year until that 1st puck drops. 'Til then I don't fucking wanna talk about it.

On a unrelated note, that should entertain both Me and Malmstrom. J.D. Drew is rated by ESPN.com as the second most Outrageous contract of the off season.

"1. Tigers give five years, $75 million to the only baseball player in history to have knee surgery in Austria (Magglio Ordonez) -- when no one else was offering more than two years.

2. Dodgers hand a five-year, $55-million deal to a guy (J.D. Drew) who has never made an All-Star team, has never driven in 100 runs and has had one 450-at-bat season in his life.

3. Mets kick off the out-of-control free-agent pitching auction by giving three years, $22.5 million to Kris Benson -- a fellow with one winning season and a 47-53 lifetime record. "

I couldn't agree more with all 3 of them. This is just the type of thing that killed... "that other sport." Giving average players superstar money.

The Aaaahj- 02-19-2005
Wow, I shoulf have kept reading that article before posting.

J.D. Drew and Derek Lowe are 2nd for the worst free agent singings.

There's a side not about the Naughty Sailors beloved Henry Blanco having the lowerst career batting average of any activenon-pitcher with over 1,000 carrer at bats (he has a Silver Slugger bonus clause in his contract)/

SPRING TRAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! QWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Aaaahj- 03-04-2005
That's a look I hope to see often on the Dodger faces this year and every year for that fact.

Yes, Spring Training has officially begun, less than 1 month to opening day.

Sailor, what exactly does QWO... mean? Or is it a silent Q?

malmstorm @ work- 03-04-2005
I think "qwooo" is an asian bird call. I could be wrong though.

NaughtySailor- 03-04-2005
QWO means "AJ is in a homosexual relationship with Brian."

Malmstorm!- 03-27-2005
Thought i'd bump this, what with all the Barry Bonds hoo-hah going on.

How do you feel about Bonds not being ready for the season, if at all, AJ?

Me, i look at it two ways:

1) i'm saddened at the thought of Bonds not playing a game ever again. I don't think that'll happen, but you never know. I really do want to see him break Hanks record. He will always be an amazing player to me. I was actually more in favor of signing HIM instead of Maddux way back when. Like Hank said: even with steroids, you STILL have to have amazing pitch recognition and be able to make contact. Steroids don't do that for you. Steroids or no, i don't give a fuck.

2) I think this will show the world that the Giants CAN compete without Bonds. They will be fine. There was nowhere to play Feliz anyways, so now at least he gets to play. Sure, he won't match Bonds' production, but who can? Still, he is a nice backup plan, something the Giants didn't have last year when the closer situation was worse than the Cubs.

The Aaaahj- 03-27-2005
Bonds will be back with the club by mid-May. I think he just blew up at the reporters due to all the stress he's under. The Giant's trainer thinks he'll be back by mid-May early June. The Giants are still a perfectly fine ballclub without him, and with the NL West being weaker than it has been in a long time, they'll do fine.

I do believe Bonds will retire after next season home run record or not.

I totally agree with you steroids comment. I'm sooooooooo sick of all the steroids talk. It's as if Baseball is the only sport with players using steroids. It's over, tougher testing has been started lets just move on. Don't even get me started with Congress' grandstanding.
